DeWALT 20V Max Miter Saw DCS361M1 Spotted

DeWALT had been rumored to be releasing a new cordless 20V mitersaw. Just when I thought it was just a rumor guess what I saw on the Home Depot website! The new DeWALT 20V mitersaw DCS361M1 This is not the first cordless miter-saw to be released by DeWALT. Craftsman, Ryobi and other brands (in the UK), have them in their 18V lines. However, this is the first time for the 20V Max line.

These cordless saws can be used in places without power. What I love about them is that they are lighter so you don’t have to worry about plugging them into or dealing with power cords, even though the jobsite has power.

Specifications are scarce at the moment as the only details on the new miter saw are only on the HD website and even then they dont give you the full picture. It runs a blade length of 7-1/10 cm, which is the same as the blades on circular saws. This blade is not longer than the 25 cm or 30 cm. It would require more power to run larger blades since they offer larger cutting capacities but 7-1/10 cm should be plenty for cordless needs where portability is a higher priority than top performance. Because it is a smaller blade, you won’t get much vertical cutting power as it only has 3-inch maximum.

It weighs in at a light 14 kg and is said to get up to 150 cuts on 26 lumber which is impressive if true. It does not specify what type of battery is needed to make the 150 cuts. The pictures show the XR 4.0ah batteries, but the description says a 3.0ah battery. Stay tuned for official information from the manufacturer.

The best part is that it’s priced at Youre going to have to shell out more cash if you want the complete kit. But this DeWALT miter saw comes as a complete kit with battery and charger for This might be a Home Depot exclusive as was the case with the DCS387 compact 20V recip saw where HD got a lower priced kit than everyone else but included a smaller but yet still high capacity battery (3.0ah) and DeWALTs budget charger, as a single DCB200 3.0ah battery and the DeWALT budget charger DCB112 is includedwith the miter saw kit. The DCB112 charger is the best DeWALT budget charger but still lags behind charging speed and features when compared to the mainstream DCB101.

Included with the saw are a carbide 7-1/10 cm blade, a single 3.0ah battery, charger, manual, and a material clamp. DeWALT often leaves these in their mitersaws, but they include extensions. It’s great to have a material clamp included. Were still waiting for other specifications such as the no-load RPM but my guess is that it should be around 2,200 2,700 RPM as that is where the competition from Makita and Milwaukee stand. It is not the same high RPM as in cordless circularsaws, but I believe the lower RPM is for higher torque which is needed to cut 2x lumber.
