Hercules High Torque Drill

Harbor Freight presented 3 new, high-performance Hercules 20V batteryless power tools at the SEMA show. These include a high torque drill, hammer drill, and impact driver. We will be taking a closer look at two Hercules 20V Brushless high-torque drills. I also wrote about the new Hercules 20V Brushless 4 mode impact driver and you can check it out here. A big thanks to Joshua B. for spotting!

Hercules 20V Brushless High-Torque Drill Features

Both models should share the same feature set, with the only difference being one has a drill mode. Both models have a strong high torque motor that can deliver 1,200 in-lbs of torque. This makes them very strong drills for heavy duty work. Thats as strong as Milwaukee M18 Fuel Gen 2 & 3 models! These models come with 2 speeds settings, up to 2,000 RPM at high. Youll find metal

This side handle is similar to Milwaukees and can be used with the hammer drill model. It clamps on to the top and can be positioned left or right side and doesnt rotate like the one on Dewalt models. The handle grips onto the screw posts and I wonder if it may be possible to position the handle vertically as well? Well have to wait and see. The side handle of the drill/driver is not shown so I wonder what it might come with.

The LED light is located at the bottom of the tool. The tool also comes with pre-installed belt clips on the left. One cosmetic difference between both models is that the hammer drill variant has a blue accent on the torque collar as well as a blue hammer icon on the side.

Hercules 20V Brushless, High Torque Drills are Different from Dewalt High Toque Drills

Hercules was initially created to imitate the Dewalt brand. However, not all Hercules powertools are trying to imitate Dewalt. These new Hercules high-torque drills have a more similar design to the Milwaukee M18 Fuel drill. The side handle is similar in design and some design cues as well. Although the handles give off a Dewalt-esque vibe, that’s not my main concern.

You won’t find these premium features on the Dewalt 20V high-torque drill. This includes 3 speeds instead of two and very bright LED lights. A 3 speed transmission is better because it offers the same high torque low speed as well as a high speed mode. It also offers a middle speed setting, which gives you the best of both. Dewalt drills have super bright LED lights, which can also be used as flashlights. The switches allow you to switch between full brightness, medium brightness, or full brightness in a 20-minute mode.

Side handles can also be different. Dewalts side handles can fully rotate giving you the angle you want. The hole in the Dewalts side handle allows you to attach a depth rod. Depth rods come in handy when hammer drilling so you dont over drill.

One big difference between the two brands is usually price. Harbor Freight usually prices their Hercules tools less than Dewalt tools so expect to save money by going blue.
