The new Underground Cable Cutter can cut up to 1500MCMCU 15KV. It pairs with a wireless remote that allows Linemen to be further away from the cut. This makes it safer and more efficient.
Due to the potential for Arc Flash, Linemen cut any potentially live cable remotely. When the situation calls for these types of cuts, Linemen have had to use methods such as hydraulic pumps and hot sticks that still maintain a physical connection between the user and the cut zone, said Paige Bovard, Group Manager of Product Management for Milwaukee Tool. Linemen can use a wireless remote to communicate with their M18 FORCELOGIC 8cm Underground Cable Cutter via Bluetooth and initiate a cut. The wireless remote will display an indicator light that alerts the user when the tool has finished cutting. The wireless remote is exclusively paired with the Cable Cutter, eliminating the potential for other devices to connect to the tool and activate a cut unintentionally. For wrecking or new line installs, the tool can easily interchange between remote mode and local mode through a Remote Cut Switch on the back of the tool.
Linemen require a tool that is easy to set up, use, and then reset for the next cut. A handle and hang hook enable the easiest suspension in vaults and manholes.
